Well this has been a journey, but it’s been a fun journey. While taking this class I got to learn how to take photos using a camera in different ways and formats. With putting those techniques we made photos with balloons, things from nature, we even used magazines to make collages, we also had to either tape or super glue staples together to make our own cities. Even though the staples kept getting stuck to my fingers I loved doing that lab. But this year has come to an end with new information and techniques that I will definitely use when I take photos now I will really miss walking into class and learning new things everyday from my favorite teacher. Thanks for hanging out and chatting with me!!!! Grace out ✌️👋
Sunrise zone
In the Sunrise Zone all day every day there are sunrises. That’s because the sun got stuck while rising one day and never rose again so the whole city is never night nor day, only sunrises. Since the sun is stuck where it is that means everyone in the city will never see the moon ever again, and because they won’t see the moon again it’ll never be night, and all the stars will disappear and so will all the planets.
Even though living in the Sunrise zone seems bad it really isn’t. It’s actually really beautiful. You get to wake up to pretty colors beaming through your windows hitting your face when you wake up. You get that gentle cool breeze that’s not too hot and not too cold. Because you get that nice cool breeze and get to wake up to all the pretty colors from the sunrise are beaming through your windows, when you wake up, you’ll always be in a happy peaceful mood, no matter what life throws your way whether it’s good or bad you’ll always be happy all day every day.
How I shot these photos was I got an orange LED light and put it in different spots of the city then I put the camera at different angles and took a photo from above, from the side and a full view of the city and then after I got the photos I wanted I edited them in Adobe Photoshop and edited them to make the sunrise pop more in the background and in the photos I made the light pop more on the buildings.

Closing: Lessons from Blind Photography:
The most significant lesson that I learned from this lab is that when I take pictures I need to expand my horizon while I take photos so that I can take pictures of the things that really matter, things that are really important, or interesting.
This project expanded my creative boundaries because before I never really thought of taking pictures while being blind. It definitely never crossed my mind but it was really interesting to do because I got to learn and take pictures like how Pete Eckert does and I’ll definitely do it again. So taking pictures being blind is really cool because I get to use every sense that I have instead of just my sight.
Photo series 2- blind: water balloon dynamics

What shutter speed do you use to capture the water’s motion and details? The best shutter speed to use is 1/4000th of a second or faster than that.
Anticipating the moment and adjusting the shutter speed enhance or complicate the shot? Anticipating the shot was really hard because when the balloon popped it either pooped to fast or too slow, but eventually I got the hang of it and got the pictures that I wanted.
Blind: Light paintings
Pete Eckert is a photographer that went blind at the age 27 and that is when he started to fall in love with photography.

This is one of his most famous photographs and in my photography class we had to make a picture using LED lights and flash lights to try and recreate the picture. The way I took my photos is I used one of my friends and we threw LED lights at him and drew with two different colored lights to make a fire around him.

This was one of my favorite projects to do because we got to do it in the dark and we got to make really cool shapes and figures. With this project we got to express our creativity and our imagination. I really thought it was a fun project to do. It’s one of those projects that you would want to do over and over again.
What is the process of long exposure? Long exposure is a type of process where you use a slow shutter speed to capture movement and light over an extended period.
Blind: Shadows and Light
A. What are the different perspectives that photographers use to take pictures in the dark? Photographers use shadows and lights to create various perspectives and moods in their images, from dramatic and moody to soft and natural.

These are some of the pictures that made using shadows and lights.
B. The choice of paper structure shapes that I used in the shadows and light project influence shadow designs because I had to cut the paper very specifically to be able to see the light shinning through the paper.
C. How did changing light angles affect the shadow complexity? the light angles changed the complexity of the shadows because the way that the lights are pointed at the pictures makes the shadows appear either more or less than how you wanted them to.
Photo Series2- Blindfold test
Hello everyone, My name’s Grace and in my photography class I had to do a test where I was blindfolded and it was really hard to do because I kept running into things but it was fun though. These two photos are when I wasn’t blindfolded, in the first one my teacher told me that wherever I was to stop, point the camera up at the ceiling and take the picture and you can see how the light reflects on everything around it to let you see everything clearly. But in the second photo my teacher told us to explore and find something interesting and take a picture of it so I went to a table that was close to a window and took the picture where the table and the window met and got this cool V-shaped angle.

In this photo I was blindfolded to where I couldn’t see where I was going and I kept running into tables and chairs. I got a lot of photos like this but this one was the best one that I got. I got this one buy being on the edge of the table and trying to point the camera at the wall but i got this angle instead.

How did the blindfolding experience change my approach when photographing? It changed my approach to photography by allowing me to use my other senses instead of just my sight.
In this series I was investigating on how to use my other senses instead of just my sight like I usually do. It was very difficult to do but knowing that I had help already because my cousin is blind, she has helped me understand what she goes through on a day-to-day basis. So, this lab was very interesting to do but it was fun.
Shadows and Light
In the Shadows and Light project we had to test our abilities to see light as positives and negatives and we had to choose 2 photos to work with.

In this one it shows how you can use yourself as a prop and find different angles to put your camera at and find how light or dark you want your background to be. I think that this is positive because you can clearly see the shadow because of how light the background is because of the sun.

In this one it shows how your can use nature as a prop by finding which angle you want it at and it all depends on where the sun is. the sun’s placement is important because it depends on how dark you want the shadow of the trees.
The Close Up
What is self-expression?
- Self-expression is the expression of one’s feelings, thoughts, or ideas, especially in writing, art, music, or dance.
Why is it important to self-express?
- When people use self-expression it allows individuals to communicate their thoughts, feelings, and experiences authentically, leading to a stronger sense of self, improved mental health, better relationships, and the ability to connect with others on a deeper level by sharing their unique perspective, it also provides a healthy outlet for emotions and can foster personal growth and creativity.
What would life be like if we weren’t able to self-express?
- If we weren’t allowed to self-express, our lives would be boring and sad. Much of our lives revolve around self-expression. Taking that away would take away who we are.
Where does the value of expression lie within your original work?
- In my work the background of my photo is the same and how I portrayed the photo is the same.
How did the events of 2020 impact his photography?
- That exchange reflects the tensions Kerstens holds between photography and painting, conventional motifs and modern topics, the model’s serious expression and her quirky garb all contribute to the dynamism of his work. With Paula’s pale, somber face and hazel eyes lit to balance reflection and translucence, she seems to gaze back across half a millennium from our current moment with a knowing perspective on what it means to look at art while being looked at by it.

Explain how your decided to express yourself.
- In my picture how I chose to express myself was I wore my favorite green dress to match the green in the girl’s dress in the image and I used blue sunglasses to represent the blue headband she was wearing.

entering a new season: 2025
2024 started off good but as the months went by it started to get worse with family issues, then on the 10th of July I had a really bad four wheeler accident where I flipped it on its side and broke my collarbone, a couple weeks later I got surgery and got a metal plate with seven screws to hold my collarbone in place, then that turned to 6 long weeks of physical therapy. During those 6 weeks school started back up and I had to where a sling for a whole month which affected how I did in school and what sports I could do. After that happened I started to reconnect with some old friends that I really needed in my life. And in the beginning of September my dad got married and I finally got to call my 2 favorite people my siblings after 2 years of knowing them, and it was one of the best days of my life. Even though 2024 started off really rocky it ended in somewhat of what people call the best year ever with 2 “perfectly happy families” getting along. In 2024 I learned a lot of things about myself like how your mental health is something that i need to be careful with and not taking great care of myself really showed and how even if you want to be happy, smile and laugh with the people you love, you don’t need to fake it and try to enjoy life. In 2025, my personal goal for myself is to put myself above everyone else because they aren’t really something to worry about and I need to not stress about what people say or think about me all the time. A long term I have for myself is to do well in school and make my dad proud of my for always doing my best and for trying in school instead of not caring about anything and giving up on things really fast. After this semester is over the photography style that I would like to seek is nature photography because being outside is really peaceful for my and I enjoy looking at the sun rising and setting.
